Analyzing a Research Paper
The research article by Cox et al. (2023) is a qualitative Level VI study, which addresses the experiences, expectations, and perceptions of patients regarding care of urinary tract infection (UTI) in the general practice. The researchers used semi-structured interviews and thematic analysis to learn the perception of the patients on the symptoms of UTI, and the influence of the expectations on their desire to receive antibiotics. The reliability of the study is that it was published on the peer-reviewed journalors.
Antibiotics, a systematic and clear method was chosen, and the research was conducted by experienced clinicians and scientists in the area of the primary care and the area of infectious disease. The findings showed that patients do not have a good understanding of the symptoms of UTI and the majority of them tend to default to anticipating the need of antibiotics even when they are not needed.
The second issue that was observed during the research was the absence of communication; not all patients were certain about the testing and treatment decisions. Although the sample was restricted to the adult age group, the themes are applicable to older adults, in which the UTI is more likely to be manifested in a peculiar manner and the patients rely heavily on the words of the clinician. Patient education and antibiotic stewardship in medical care can be improved with the help of these lessons.
NURS FPX 4025 Assessment 1
When it comes to the case of a patient like Beulah Roush, the results explain the need to show the symptoms, why antibiotics should be taken in case of the emergence of the symptoms, and why the patient must receive information about the sense of the treatment intervention. Overall, the study provides significant evidence, which has the potential to enhance the communication process, the correctness of the NURS FPX 4025 Assessment 1, and patient-oriented treatment of UTI.
